Mum Abandoned Newborn Baby Because of His Condition. You Won’t Believe Who Later Adopted Him
Young parents went to their local grocery store to purchase baby essentials for their newborn baby. Suddenly, the baby girl unexpectedly kept crying non-stop for a week until one morning when Michelle discovered a life-threatening issue that changed their outlook on parenting in the UK.
Lee and Michelle went about their daily routines of buying essentials for their cute premature five-month-old infant. The parents tried their hardest to protect and provide for their happy baby. They bought two jumbo packs of Pampers at their local store, Asda. Little did they know that it was this purchase that would bring more suspicions to Gabriela’s constant crying.
Gabriella had been crying for days on end. The parents assumed that she may be going through the typical growing experience of being sick while teething. While acknowledging all babies are different, they did everything they could to comfort their sick child.
But when Michelle had a closer look while changing Gabriella’s diaper, she was shocked to see what had been hurting her little one all along. In the clean white soft pad of the diaper lay a dark sharp metal that seemed to be produced in the core of the diaper.
Michelle called out to Lee for this matter, and they began inspecting each diaper. To their surprise, they found a handful more diapers with these sharp metal pieces that had rust too. Lee uttered, they were absolutely outraged and shocked that this had happened. This further confirmed the prolonging and excruciating pain that their bundle of joy had been facing.
Intentional or not, this was the least of the Yates’s worries as they rushed baby Gabriella to be examined in the emergency room. They held onto the diapers to indicate the reason for their admission. Additionally, to their worry, baby Gabriella had a low immune system, which made her susceptible to the life-threatening dangers of this unhygienic circumstance.
Infections such as septicemia, a blood poisoning by bacteria, could have been part of the fate of the infant. To make matters worse, the metal was discovered right by the private parts, which are one of the most sensitive parts of the body.
Although the scratches caused by the metals on the delicate skin had exposed blood, the doctors found no further internal injuries that could have affected their little one even more. The couple could sigh relief for this prevention, but it could have happened to anyone.
As a result, their next move was to investigate what could have gone wrong in the production of one of the biggest baby product distributors. Regardless, baby Gabriella showed an instant change in her emotions as she cried less and was her usual happy baby self again. However, this could not be the case with other babies who have trusted Pampers with their baby’s protection.
Lee and Michelle contacted Pampers’ marketer, Procter & Gamble (PNG), to file a complaint. They further took it to the news when Lee stated the following: “We didn’t want compensation, but we want to know what happened and have someone investigate transparently, determine the cause, and make sure that no other babies were affected.
Next time, they might not be so lucky.” The company responded, apologizing for the mishap and has taken action to produce a thorough investigation, as it is a serious matter. The reply reads as follows: “We have been able to confirm that the particle you have found was indeed metal, and we have identified the cause of the issue by retracing the detailed manufacturing history of the pack you gave us.”
However, PNG seems to not speak further about the matter to the masses. Michelle claims that they said it was because none of the other nappies are affected. How do they know that? Pampers have been in the baby products industry for over 60 years, very well known for selling diapers, baby wipes, and training pants.
The PNG researchers made history by solving the problem of conventional cloth diapers to disposable diapers for the comfort and protection of the baby and convenience of the parent. The Yates’ story contradicted their aim.
There seems to be no thorough check on the essential items that are supposed to be the last worries on the parents’ minds because of the company’s experience and hence professionally produced products. As does professionalism was also questioned in this matter.
The Yates couple had a conversation with them and they were stunned to hear that this was not new to them. A month prior, another customer also informed Asda about a similar incident with Pampers diapers bought in that very same store. And based on business relations and distribution, it cannot be the shopping center’s fault for continuously providing one of the most demanded brands and products all sealed.
For more interest and trust of the customers. While that seemed to be the case for PNG acknowledging their accident publicly, they have not informed the rest of their customers. Surprising, especially as they’re a company that distributes around the world. Michelle persistently states her case for the company to inform the customers on their website in a form of statement too. Little to no success on this action taken and acknowledged.
If it is a jumbo pack that the sharp medals were found in by the Yates family, can you imagine how many diapers were affected by this so-called accident? Lee took to social media platforms Facebook and Reddit to tell their story with pictures of the diapers and adorable victim baby Gabriella.
The posts urged awareness to the safety of their children based on the baby-related products that parents trust. May just resemble their ignorance of what is best for their infant. This story created a buzz with supportive reactions towards either the Yates family or the diaper company. Part of the post read that the medical staff originally thought she was constipated and cut from straining.
Understandably, it is expected that baby brands would make thorough checks for their products because of the sensitivity of their customers. It is uncommon for parents to double-check if there are any metals manufactured in the cotton of baby diapers. It leaves a lot of unanswered questions of trust.
While there were heartfelt messages towards the recovery of Gabriella, there were other people who wouldn’t believe that Pampers would do such a thing and claimed that the couple had most probably placed the sharp metal razors themselves to run with their so-called fake news. The users emphasized how bad of a parent Michelle is by even claiming that she deliberately did it to Gabriella out of greed and to milk PNG for money.
While PNG could have taken more necessary measures to clarify to the consumers this inconvenience, Michelle was rather called, and I quote, “some really wild names.” And if we’re being honest, who would even blame the bashers if PNG did not give much further attention than just not looking ignorant towards the partners they had? Not even made any intentions to compensate the couple as a gesture to show genuine apologies for the inconvenience.
It seems as though the pair were running the story by themselves to avoid future and current problems. However, the company’s explanation stated that the metal pieces had been from the machinery that was stopped for maintenance, the same machine that they were replacing. It was not their intention to sell the diapers that had been affected by this machine.
For one of the biggest baby product distributors, they are lucky that Yates took matters to only inform other parents rather than take legal actions, especially with their apology that further did not result in taking extra precautions. More commemoration would have been applauded rather than just being quiet when they have such a huge following. Six years later, in 2021, a TikTok video uploaded by Becca Grob beryo showed her squeezing out a particle from Pampers diapers. In contrast, there were clarifications made by people that it was just a twig from organic cotton.
However, there were remarks of personal experiences, such as TikTok account handle user @foreverdolly, saying that remember when their son was in diapers about five years ago, Huggies and their wipes too had a glass.
In relation to Becca’s post, Procter & Gamble did not reply immediately to this mishap. The fact remains about Pampers’ responsibility in the worldwide baby products industry that they seem to not try to fulfill, as Lee expresses this issue in the subsequent statement:
“We put trust in these big companies, especially when dealing with intimate hygienic areas, and we expect things like this to be checked and go through quality control.”
At this point, what thorough investigation is necessary if they let these topics die down for the sake of seemingly avoiding bad publicity? As much as Pampers can keep giving us advertisements and sponsoring TV programs, you have control over what baby products you make your baby use and consume. Nevertheless, we never aim to hurt our innocent little ones. Let us know in the comments down below about any similar mishaps that could inform any worried parent.
