The Camera Captured a Little Boy Getting Out of His crib at Night to Sleep With His Dog

The Knutson family from Richmond, Virginia, has an adorable little son, Finn, who’s now four years old. He’s a smart and wonderful child now, but it wasn’t always so. When the mother was 20 weeks pregnant, an ultrasound showed that the baby had problems with the heart arteries.

Fortunately, the boy was diagnosed in utero, so they managed to cure him. The boy went into surgery when he was only 11 days old. The surgery went well, but seven days later, several unexpected complications emerged, and Finn had to have one more surgery.

When they finally got home, they were greeted by their pet, a boxer dog named Brutus, who was extremely happy to see them. The mother, who works as an ER nurse, said that the dog was acting like the family doctor from day one. He was always next to Little Finn, clearly sensing that he needed additional attention and protection. The baby slept next to the rather large dog from an early age.

However, when the baby got a little bigger, Brutus got his own sleeping place: a dog bed in the shape of a mini sofa. They put it on the floor in Finn’s room. This freed up some space for the baby, yet it didn’t force the two friends to sleep in separate rooms, since they were used to being together all the time.

The mother could have never imagined what it could lead to. One morning, she discovered a rather shocking scene: her little son was sleeping on the floor next to the dog. Both of them were snoring sweetly. Paige didn’t know what to think. She needed to figure out how her son ended up sleeping on the floor.

She was even slightly alarmed, wondering if the dog could have dragged him there, or maybe the kid was sleepwalking. The woman decided to install a camera in her son’s room to find out what was going on. She pointed it in the direction of her son’s bed and the dog bed. The next morning, she found her toddler and Brutus sleeping together on the dog’s couch.

After this, the family watched the recording from the camera, which was very entertaining. The video showed how Finn woke up in the middle of the night, threw his blanket out of the crib, and climbed out to join his friend on the floor, and he didn’t even forget to take his bottle with him. Brutus only turned his head slightly, wondering what was happening behind him.

Seeing the kid, the dog immediately decided to continue sleeping, but it turned out harder than expected. At first, Finn tried to lay down on the side of the dog’s back, but the sofa back got in his way.

And then the funniest part began: walking around the dog from different sides, the baby tried to find a comfortable place next to it, but each time his feet or hands ended up on the floor, which was too cold for the little boy to sleep on. Lying right on top of the dog was the warmest option, but Finn’s head kept sliding off of it.

Brutus endured all that was happening to him with stoic tranquility. He didn’t even turn his head, patiently waiting for his friend to calm down. Finally, the boy managed to find a fairly empty corner where the dog took up less space.

He squeezed in there, arms and legs folded on the mat. He was leaning against the dog, so it was warm enough, and that’s when the boy finally calmed down. And even though his eyes were still open, it’s clear that he was already falling asleep. And then he did.

Now the mother knows that her son simply didn’t want to part with his dog, even at night. Maybe they will end up putting the dog in a different room for the night eventually, but definitely not now. Maybe when Finn gets older.

Right now, Brutus is Finn’s loyal friend who will always protect him day and night, and he’s also fun to play with. Pets feel the baby’s selfless love for them and respond to it without paying any attention to the inconvenience that babies might bring along.
