This 66-Year-Old Woman Fell Pregnant, Then Something Very Shocking Happened In The Delivery Room

A child is a blessing, but when it doesn’t come after several years of trying, many couples feel like they’re being cursed. That’s what Devi thought when she failed to give her husband the baby they both wanted. After 44 years and two more wives, she finally managed to get pregnant, and what the doctor discovered in the delivery room left everybody speechless.

Buteri Devi was born on May 21, 1944, in Medina, a village in the Indian District of Rohtak. Since she was a girl, she had known from a young age that she was going to get married early to bear several children – it’s what their culture demanded.

When she turned 18, her parents started bringing in suitors for her. Devi was beautiful, and many men in their village wanted her as their bride. However, she was quite choosy and always found some faults in her suitors. A year passed, then two, and Devi refused to pick a partner. Her younger siblings got married, but Devi refused to agree to a union that would make her unhappy. So she kept searching for the right man.

When she turned 22, her dad was frustrated, and he made Devi promise that she was going to find a suitable partner that year. Devi knew she had to work towards fulfilling the promise, so she intensified her search for a partner. But months passed, and no suitable man appeared on the horizon.

Right when she was about to give up, she met Raj Singh. Raj was two years younger than her, but he was all she wanted in a man and more. They were able to communicate freely without having any awkward moments. Raj was also a hard-working man, and she knew he would always be able to provide for her and their future children.

A few months later, Devi and Raj got married. Devi’s dad was pleased with their union and mentioned how he couldn’t wait for them to bear his grandchildren. However, things didn’t go as planned as the couple struggled to have kids.

Devi was young and didn’t think it would be hard for her to bear a child. Her older and younger siblings had gotten pregnant as soon as they got married, so she thought it would be the same for her too. When the first year passed, and she was unable to bear a child, she began to worry. She became a regular at the temple and prayed morning and night for God to give her a baby. Her husband was understanding at first, but when the years went by and she was unable to conceive, his family urged them to marry a second wife.

Devi begged him to give her more time, but Raj was overwhelmed by the pressure from his family. Knowing that Raj had made up his mind to marry another woman, Devi begged him to let her remain in the house even though Raj married a second wife. It was the same story all over again. Devi watched the other woman struggle as well to get a child, and the two wives ended up bonding over their childlessness. They visited hospitals and other places recommended by older women, but none was able to offer a solution.

Their husband was also frustrated. His family members were already pestering him to get a much younger wife. Raj didn’t budge at first, but when the pressure intensified, he got married to a third woman. This woman was young and vibrant, and everyone was sure that she was the one who was going to bear Raj’s children.

And just as expected, she was pregnant within a few months. Devi and the second wife couldn’t help but stare at the third wife’s round belly in envy. They even questioned how she had gone about it, but the young woman had no answer to their questions.

A few months before the third wife was to have her baby, she suffered complications and lost the child. Everyone blamed Devi and the second wife for her loss. They all said the two older wives had made the girl go through so much stress out of envy.

Raj then took action and asked the two older wives to go back to their parents. Devi went back to her family, hoping that soon her husband would come back asking for her. Few months after she lost her first baby, the third wife got pregnant again. This time the two older wives were not in the house, and Raj got people to help with her everyday needs.

But just like with the first pregnancy, the baby didn’t survive. This time there was no one to take the blame, and when the incident reoccurred two more times, the third wife went back to her parents, leaving Raj for good.

After spending several years in absolute solitude, Raj went back to his first wife, Devi. He asked for her forgiveness and promised to stay with her even if they were unable to bear children. Devi accepted his apology, and they resumed their life together.

Although everyone around her seemed to have accepted that they weren’t going to have children, Devi couldn’t give up yet. She kept making inquiries and carrying out research on what to do to have children.

When she was 64 years old, she got some information that made her optimistic. While watching the news, she heard that a 70-year-old woman, Rajo Devi, had conceived and birthed a child through IVF treatment at a national fertility center in Haryana. Devi was six years younger than the woman in the news, and that raised their hopes.

Despite their issues, Raj and Devi had never stopped loving each other. So when Devi informed him about IVF, they wasted no time before going to the hospital. They narrated their ordeal to the doctor at the fertility center, and he assured them that Devi was going to conceive.

Raj’s sperm was collected, and they began the treatments. The first two rounds were not successful, but on the third attempt, Devi became pregnant. At the time, she was already 66 years old and had spent 44 years trying for a child. The old couple was happy, and they took proper precautions to ensure nothing hurt their child. However, the baby came early, and Devi had to be taken to the hospital for an emergency delivery.

On May 29, 2010, she was wheeled into the theater for a Caesarean section because she was too old to birth the baby through natural means. While his wife underwent the procedure, Raj told the journalist, “I’m happy I returned to Devi. Even when we were apart, I never stopped loving her, and I’m happy that she is the one I get to build a family with. I can’t wait to see my baby.”

He had indeed made the right choice with Devi because unbeknownst to him, something incredible was happening in the delivery room. The doctors found out that Devi wasn’t having a baby, but three at once. They were surprised but happy that the treatment had given the old couple what they had desired for so long. Devi had two boys and a girl.

Due to their premature birth, they were underweight and had to be placed in an incubator to ensure their survival. Anurag Bijnor, the doctor who monitored the whole procedure, mentioned how Devi was able to conceive the triplets: “Devi has been coming to us for the last seven months for treatment.

She has become a mother for the first time and conceived only in our third attempt through theIVF technique. For the first two rounds, only two embryos were transferred in each cycle, but in the third attempt, three embryos were transferred to her uterus, resulting in the birth of three children by a Caesarean procedure.”

Devi is the oldest woman to give birth to triplets, Anurag Bijnor confirmed Devi’s age in a statement he made about seeing her authentic birth certificate: “According to the birth certificate issued by a government hospital in Rohtak District, Buteri Devi was born on May 21, 1944, in Medina. This document is authentic, which means she has become the oldest mother in the world to give birth to triplets.”

So far, the successful birth of her children has made many older women who have given up on ever having children optimistic again. Her baby survived, and years later, Devi was able to grant an interview, showing off her grown-up children who had not suffered any complications despite being born by an older woman.

“Firstly, I want to thank God because without him, I don’t believe I would have my sons and daughter. My life has been a roller coaster. I was proposed marriage several times, but I wasn’t interested in all the men that were brought to me.

Raj was the only man I knew I wanted, and when I was forced out of his house because I didn’t have children, I thought I was cursed. I had given up on myself, but here I am today, the oldest woman to have triplets. I can’t describe how happy I am. There are no words to explain it,” Devi said.
