My friend come to my house whenever he’s drunk. The way he looks at my pregnant wife makes me feel uncomfortable
I’ve known this person for a very long time. We used to be best friends, but things have changed since I got married. Back when I was single and we spent a lot of time together, he seemed like a cool guy, but not really a good person deep down. It’s hard to put into words, but he’s not someone you can feel safe around or trust when it comes to other people. He didn’t always behave this way, but over the years, he started acting differently.
Nowadays, he shows up at our house when he’s extremely drunk and messed up. I can’t simply keep him out because I’m afraid he’ll create a big scene, and I definitely don’t want to get into a physical fight with him. It’s not that I’m physically scared of him, it’s just that I don’t want others to think I have anger issues or problems controlling my temper. People around us don’t realize that he’s the one causing trouble, not me. Additionally, I don’t want my pregnant wife to feel frightened or unsafe. It’s crucial for her well-being and that of our unborn baby.
I’m stuck in a difficult situation because I can’t completely cut him out of my life. I have this lingering fear that he might do something truly awful to us one day. The fact that I’m away from home for most of the day only adds to my worry and overthinking. I can’t bear the thought of something happening to my wife while I’m not there to protect her.
Honestly, I feel lost and unsure of what to do next. Anxiety consumes me, and all I want is to put an end to everything calmly and without any unnecessary drama. My main priority is ensuring my wife feels safe and comfortable, instead of being scared each night by the presence of this drunken friend at our doorstep. The anger I feel is immense. However, involving the police or confronting him directly would likely exacerbate the situation and lead to even more complications.
I’m exhausted by it all. I just want him to go away and leave us alone. My wife has already endured enough stress and anxiety because of his actions. Your advice would be greatly appreciated in this difficult time.
