You could recall that in the early hours of December 11, 2021, former aide to former president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri lamented on why the anti-graft body, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission keeps on targeting people in the Southern part of Nigeria. He made this assertion in a recent tweet on his verified Twitter hanldle.
Afterwards, two fans had commented saying that fraud is more common in the South than in the North.
Reno reacting to this, explained that EFCC was established under former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2003 to fight against financial crimes. This was because Late Sani Abacha was convicted of looting over 5.5 billion dollars from Nigeria’s account.
Further speaking, he wrote that the second biggest economic crime in Nigeria is currency racketeering which is being indulged mostly by people in the Northern part of Nigeria.
