The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has narrated how one of his close allies secretly lobbied to be governor by giving drinks to his ‘people’. The governor revealed the incident during his recent interview with AIT Live.
Politicians across the country are showing interest and making moves regarding the next governorship elections in Nigeria. However, one of the prominent governors in the country has spoken concerning his succession.
Narrating an incident, Nyesom Wike said, “A lot of people do not know me, I can spend significant time with anyone, and they would not know much about me. Recently, someone close to me went behind me to give drinks to my people. He told my people that he wanted to be governor while telling me that he would support any successor I chose. However, the person in question did not know that I was aware of his secret moves. He was calling meetings behind me and pretending. Some people think they are more clever.”
