2 Major Differences Between President Buhari’s Visit To Imo And Borno States

President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Imo state has continued to generate mixed reactions from the public. It should be recalled that the President was in the state earlier today to commission some projects. It is common knowledge that the President visits various states in the country for one reason or the other. A few months ago, President Muhammadu Buhari equally visited Borno state in the Northeast region of Nigeria to address some issues.

Arguably, when we compare the President’s visit to Imo and Borno states, there are some observable differences in the events that took place during his visit. In this article, I discussed below, 2 major observable differences between President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Imo and Borno states.

1. The President’s visit to Borno attracted even schoolchildren in uniform, while his visit to Imo did not attract schoolchildren in their uniforms.

Looking at some of the pictures from the President’s visit to Borno state a couple of months ago, one could see schoolchildren in uniform, holding a Nigeria flag. Arguably, those kids made the visit to be colourful. However, during the President’s visit to Imo state, none of such things were in sight. This is the first major difference between President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Imo and Borno states.

2. There were massive crowds along the streets of Maiduguri to cheer up the President, while the streets of Owerri were deserted.

The second major difference between the President’s visit to Imo and Borno states is in the area of the number of people along the streets. As can be observed in pictures from his visit to Borno, the streets of Maiduguri were filled with large crowds that trooped out to cheer the number one citizen of Nigeria. However, the President’s visit to Imo state was greeted by the deserted streets of Owerri.

Although one cannot tell the reason behind these noticeable differences, it is arguable that the President’s visit to Borno was more colourful than his visit to Imo state. However, one may not be totally wrong to conclude that a large crowd coming out to cheer their leader, cannot be totally separated from their level of satisfaction with events happening around them.
