3 Statements That The Former Senator Kadiri Said About The 2023 Presidential Election

In the news that we gathered today, the former Senator who represented Kogi East has reacted to the fast approaching presidential election in 2023.

Let’s recall that the 2023 presidency has been trending ever since the southern Governors made it known that they want the presidency to be zoned to the South.

However, the Ohanaeze group also insisted that the presidency must be zoned to the South East because the Igbos have not produced a president of this country since over 50 years ago, despite being one of the 3 major tribes in Nigeria.

The Northern Group, such as the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has kicked against the speech of the southern people with the claim that the North will still rule for another 4 years after President Buhari in order to catch up with the southern part of the country that has ruled for 14 years.

When Alex Kadiri was speaking to the newsmen, according to Punch newspapers, he made these 3 statements that I would like to analyze in this article for better understanding.

There is nobody of substance who has the capacity to be President in North Central.

Kadiri made it known that he was no longer looking for any political appointment from anybody, and he can now say his opinion to the masses.

He claimed that there is nobody in the north central that has the capability to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, who will complete his 8-year term in 2023.

This statement seems to be his opinion about the current Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, who has publicly shown his ambitions to become president of Nigeria in 2023.

The Igbos can’t become President of Nigeria with their Republican attitude:

Kadiri made it known that he doesn’t have any bad intentions towards the Igbo people because they are his in-laws and Igbo people come to his house more than anybody, but the truth is that they can not become the president of Nigeria this time around.

He faulted the reason for his speech on how Igbo people handle most things in a republican way.

This statement means that Alex Kadiri kicked against the agitations of the Ohanaeze for the president to be zoned to the South East in 2023.

Yoruba should shelve their idea of producing a president in 2023.

Kadiri claimed that Yoruba people have benefited more from the Federal government of Nigeria than anybody else, because in 1999, when we jumped to another constitution, a Yoruba man, Obasanjo, ruled for 8 years, and Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who is also a Yoruba man, will complete his 8 years as vice president in 2023.

He said, for the sake of fairness, the Yoruba people should shelve their intention of producing the next president.

Apart from that, our next president must be healthy and it is not sweet to hear that we jumped from Yar ‘adua to Buhari and then Tinubu.
