I Stole A Car and Repainted It Because of Peer Pressure From ‘Yahoo Boys’ -Suspect Narrates (Video)
A 27-year-old suspect, Ali Abubakar, has narrated how he stole a vehicle and changed its colour from red to black within 8 hours. Abubakar was apprehended by officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara state and here he was recently paraded.
You may recall that Nigerian youths have been advised many times to avoid succumbing to peer pressure and unhealthy competition. So far, many people have pointed out that the love of material things is a motivating factor for many Nigerian youths who have taken to a life of crime. Ali Abubakar has however narrated what peer pressure from internet fraudsters (popularly known as Yahoo boys) made him do.
According to the Commandant of the NSCDC in Kwara state, Iskil Makinde, the suspect removed the number plate from the car and repainted the stolen vehicle by changing its colour from red to black within eight hours. Iskil revealed that no number plate was found on the recovered vehicle.
It was learned that Abubakar trailed the vehicle owner to his house and stole his car keys. Abubakar claims that he is a student of the Kwara State College of Education in Ilorin.
Revealing why he stole the car, Abubakar said, “I was surrounded by Yahoo boys and they all own cars, so I decided to trail my victim and stole the car keys from his bed. I proceeded to change the colour of the vehicle and started driving it.”
The painter who helped Abubakar repaint the stolen car was also apprehended and paraded by the NSCDC. Iskil Makinde has assured that the suspect will be charged to court.
