Why South Africans Will Suffer If Foreigners Are Sent Away
As a history student can I vividly tell you that the woes of many African countries began when they expelled foreigners. Certainly, hope this is not what our country is planning to do. I think the government should concentrate on fighting crimes and man the borders efficiently.
It will be very difficult, if not impossible to deport an African from Africa. Of course, they will always come back. If we carry out mass deportation of foreigners especially the illegal immigrants, they will misinterpret the whole thing that we are extraditing or repatriating all foreigners in our country and then our own nationals in other countries will suffer xenophobic attacks
One thing our people do not know is that there are many south Africans in Ghana and Nigeria. These people are working as directors, managers, technical advisors, brand representatives, chief executives and sales experts. They are employed by MTN, Dstv, Johnsons, shoprite etc. These companies are South African companies and our people do not know about these. During the Last xenophobic attacks on foreigners, MTN and shoprite companies in these countries were looted and destroyed. Hope it will not result to that level again.
The best thing to do is to notify the embassies of the countries involved, and they are the ones to repatriate their people without giving our country a bad name. Now that our president is the African Union chairman, it will be a bad image on his personality. The embassies of the countries involved should be the one to repatriate their people. This is the norm
